Schools, Principal

"Myrtel und Bo" is conceived in such a way that it can be used with great success in elementary schools as well as special educational schools. The recipe for success of the multisensory performance enhancing program is based on the diversity of methods and the high quality of the learning materials (also from an aesthetic point of view). The following educational and economic values speak in favor of the "Myrtel and Bo" program:

  1. The cost of consumable materials is comparable to that of other programs
  2. The supplementary materials are of especially high quality so they can be used for several years thus relieving the school budget in the long term. Therefore, the purchase of this program is particularly rewarding in times of scarce resources.
  3. By integrating cursive writing into the first school year, no costs will be incurred for this in the second school year.
  4. No costs for photocopying arise because all worksheets are available in the student booklets.
  5. Students’ books containing all working materials reduce the time teachers need for photocopying. Lesson preparation requires no extra material.
  6. In the accompanying teacher workshops, which take place throughout the school year, teachers can get additional ideas for the respective segment they are working on, and exchange their experiences.
  7. Students of Myrtel and Bo not only receive practice in reading and writing but in numerous other areas as well. Among fields, the following are challenged: self-perception, social behavior, motor activity, differentiated listening and seeing. Didactically, this program is designed to create a network so that the materials can be used repeatedly and in different contexts.
  8. Conveying values is a central component of this teaching program. This fact, together with the aestetically appealing teaching materials, contributes to the children treating each other, and the objects around them, respectfully. The cycle of destroying things followed by the inevitable new purchase is broken. Myrtel and Bo contribute to the prevention of violence, which is also a financially relevant factor.
  9. The well structured materials substantially ease the entry for beginning teachers as well as teachers foreign to the subject matter. The clear structure also helps substitute teachers to consequently proceed with the lessons. This is due to the fact that the children also learn to work with the materials of the program self-sufficiently.
  10. Inherent to the structure of the learning units is the possibility to offer exercises of varying degrees of difficulty to students in one class, so that also in classes with many students teachers can work concentratedly and at the same time meet the different needs of all of the children.
  11. Schools in socially deprived areas are able to noticeably improve the performance level of their students.
  12. Experience has shown that there is a great willingness of parents to participate in the cost of purchasing the teaching materials.
